Music in Big Sky - Destination Music Ad Design

This project involved designing a full-page advertisement for Music in Big Sky, a local initiative that aims to unify and promote the live music scene across Big Sky, Montana. With over 1,000 performances annually and 15+ venues—ranging from ranches to luxury resorts—this was more than just a music listing ad. It was an opportunity to visually celebrate the diversity, energy, and sense of place that define Big Sky’s musical identity.

From a design standpoint, my goal was to reflect both the authentic community roots and elevated cultural experiences that coexist in Big Sky. I began with a typography-driven layout that leads the eye through layered content—starting with the bold, declarative headline “Mountains of Music”, designed to echo both geographic grandeur and artistic ambition.

Photo selection was key in grounding the ad in place. I prioritized imagery that felt immersive and emotionally resonant—scenes that show not just performers, but the shared experience of music against the backdrop of wide skies, alpine silhouettes, and golden light. The chosen images support the copy without overpowering it, striking a balance between editorial elegance and promotional clarity.

Working on this project allowed me to translate the feeling of open space, natural rhythm, and organic energy into visual form. Designing for a place like Big Sky requires more than visual polish—it requires a sensitivity to landscape, community, and culture. This ad was an opportunity to bring those elements together into one cohesive, compelling piece that invites both locals and visitors to discover the rich soundscape of this mountain town.

Big Sky Coffee & Cars Logo

I created the visual identity for Big Sky Cars & Coffee, a community event that gathers classic, retro, and unique vehicles in the Big Sky Town Center. The goal was to develop a logo that captured the laid-back, nostalgic spirit of the event while also tying into Big Sky’s outdoor lifestyle and coffee culture.

The final logo features a stylized vintage red VW Beetle with skis strapped to the roof and a takeaway coffee cup perched on top, merging themes of car culture, mountain recreation, and local charm. The typography balances boldness with approachability, ensuring strong visibility in both print and digital applications.

This logo became the visual anchor of the event, helping build a strong and memorable brand presence from the very first gathering.
